2nd Week of Pregnancy

During ovulation, a mature ovum, or egg, is released from the ovaries, ready to be fertilized by a sperm. In the case of a regular 28-day cycle, ovulation occurs about 14 days before the next anticipated menstruation.

An egg is viable for 24 hours and sperm for 72 hours. Fertilization usually occurs when the sperm meets the egg in the fallopian tube. Considering its size, it is a long journey for the sperm cells to meet the egg.

Eat well and live a healthy lifestyle. A daily diet should be versatile containing plenty of vitamins and iron. Especially important is folic acid. Remember to drink plenty of water.

Take every opportunity to consult your doctor, midwife, or pharmacist,
they will recommend what is best for you and your baby.
