32nd Week of Pregnancy

Your baby weighs 1.8 kilograms and is 42 centimeters long. The placenta weighs about 380 grams. Most babies born in week 32 and onwards are able to survive due to fully developed lungs and a strong immune system. By now, the baby has usually turned itself and is positioned head down. You can feel it, as its movements are now stronger in the upper part of your belly.

If you place something warm on your belly, your baby will react to the temperature change.

You may develop a waddle, as a pregnancy hormone called relaxin is loosening up your hip joints. Your walk and posture will also be affected as the extra weight is increasing the curvature of your lower back.

You may suffer from hemorrhoids or constipation. If any of these troubles occur, ask your doctor for the best treatment.

You may have difficulty sleeping. Try sleeping on your left side, that way you will relieve the pressure on your bladder. Try not to sleep on your belly, especially if you are overweight.

If uterine contractions become regular and painful, consult your doctor or midwife as these could be signs of premature labor.
