11th Week of Pregnancy

Although you won’t feel your baby move for a couple of more months, he is moving quite actively as the hands and legs are developing and he becomes more energetic.

Since his fingers are separated, they can soon form a fist. Your baby’s coordination is improving and he is able to touch his head with his hands. He is also discovering his mouth that he can open and close. His sense of smell and taste have developed and soon the baby will know its first taste.

Your baby’s head is still big but its growth has started to slow down. His or her testicles or ovaries have formed. The most important part of development is almost over. From now up until birth, it is simply a question of growth and maturation.

As for you, your saliva may increase and you may notice an increase in appetite. Keep in mind that although you are now eating for two, it doesn’t mean that your food portions should be double as well. A new ailment that might bother you is insomnia; this could also be linked to anxiety about becoming a mother soon.

Don’t forget that everything that is harmful to you is also harmful to the baby. If you still feel a little hungry after lunch, have some fruit instead of dessert. Headaches are quite common during pregnancy. If needed, relieve the pain with medication as most over-the-counter medicines are not harmful. But if in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist. The better care you take of yourself the healthier and happier your baby will be while growing in your belly.
