21st Week of Pregnancy

The fetus weighs over 400 grams and is around 26 centimeters long. Your baby doesn’t have much fat tissue yet but from now on he will start putting on weight.

His eyebrows and eyelashes are growing. Your baby swallows amniotic fluid and urinates it out again continuously. He is moving actively and has developed sleep patterns. He might become active in the evenings when you are relaxed and plan to go to sleep. You will become more aware of your baby’s daily schedule in the upcoming weeks. Your pregnancy is now clearly noticeable to everybody and you may develop a protruding navel. You may notice your feet and ankles become swollen by the end of the day. When sex was the last thing on your mind in the first trimester, you may notice a complete change in the second trimester. But it could also take a while, so don’t worry if you’re not in the mood.

Go through your menu and dietary habits and eat healthily. Recommended weight gain is 400-500 grams a week. A faster weight gain might be the result of a bad diet. If your feet are swollen, drink plenty of water and put your feet up – this is also helpful for relieving backache.
