40th Week of Pregnancy

An average newborn baby weighs around 3.5 kilograms and is 50 centimeters long. Keep in mind that every baby is different and these numbers might also vary.

By now, you are probably at your wits’ end and cannot take another day of feeling clumsy. Meanwhile, you cannot wait to meet your baby. But don’t fret if you don’t give birth this week. Your doctor has probably given you different deadlines based on ultrasounds and pinned down only one. He will be born when he is ready and it is comforting to know that only about 5% of babies are born on their estimated due date. Babies born at 42 weeks are still considered full-term, not late-term. After 42 weeks, doctors can use various methods to induce labor. You may also try some home remedies – having sex, taking long walks, cleaning, climbing the stairs. But there’s no guarantee that these will bring on labor. Even if your baby decides to wait, it won’t be that long before your wait is over and your new life begins.
